WestEd serves as the external evaluator for two California State University (CSU) programs focused on improving computer science education for undergraduate students. As evaluators, we serve as critical friends helping our partners study and improve the impact of their programs. Our partners include the following:
- Promoting Inclusivity in Computing (PINC) is a suite of programs created by San Francisco State University to provide computer science training to students in the life sciences. Students can participate in a computing minor, a computing certificate program, a scholarship program, and a summer research experience.
- Socially Responsible Computing is a newly funded Broadening Participation in Computing Alliance (BPC-A) between computer science faculty at six California State University (CSU) campuses: Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo; CSU Dominguez Hills; San Francisco State University; CSU Fullerton; Cal Poly, Pomona; and CSU Los Angeles. The alliance aims to improve introductory computer science courses by creating assignments and projects that show students how computing can be used to address problems in society.
